Each door is permitted through our general contractor partner. We measure on site and give you a written quote with the NOA number.
When should I replace a garage door instead of repairing it?
Replace it when repairs no longer make sense, usually for one of these reasons:
- The door has no hurricane rating label and you want a rated opening for storm season. For the opening-protection credit on a wind-mitigation report, the door has to be impact-rated (see impact doors).
- Two or more sections are dented, or matching sections are no longer made.
- Rust has eaten through the bottom section and the frame.
- The door is old and heavy, needs repairs every year, and the repairs are adding up.
- You’re renovating or selling and want the curb appeal of a new door.
What does every new garage door include?
Every door we install is wind-rated for Miami-Dade and Broward and comes with:
- a current Miami-Dade NOA or Florida Product Approval, with the NOA number and expiry date printed on your quote,
- new tracks and springs sized to the new door,
- removal and haul-away of the old door,
- the permit included, with the door permitted through our general contractor partner.
What affects the quote for a new garage door?
- Size: a single (8-9 ft wide), a double (16 ft), or a taller or 18 ft opening.
- Style and finish: solid steel, a row of impact windows, or full-view impact glass.
- The wind pressure your home requires, based on its location and exposure.
- Extras you choose, like a new opener with battery backup.
- Framing repairs, only if we find them when we measure.
How does a new garage door installation work?
- Call or WhatsApp a photo of your current door and tell us your city.
- On-site visit. We measure the opening, look at the framing, and check the wind rating your home needs.
- Written quote. You get the door model, the NOA number and its expiry date, and the expected timeline. Quotes are valid 14 days.
- Order and permit. Once you approve, we order the door, and it is permitted through our general contractor partner. Payment terms are on your quote.
- Installation day. The old door comes out and is hauled away, the new door goes in with new tracks and springs, and it is balanced and safety-tested.
- Inspection. The permit gets its final inspection.
Why do the HVHZ and NOAs matter for a new door in Miami-Dade and Broward?
Miami-Dade and Broward are in the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone (HVHZ) of the Florida Building Code, which has the strictest wind requirements in the state. A replacement garage door here has to be an approved product that meets the wind pressure your home requires, and it has to be permitted.
Product approvals don’t last forever. NOAs have expiration dates, and models get re-approved or dropped. That’s why your quote shows the NOA number and its expiry date, so you know exactly what you’re buying. Learn more in what is a Miami-Dade NOA and our guide to garage door permits.

Common questions
How much does a new garage door cost installed in Miami?
SolvTek Garage Doors quotes every new door individually, in writing, because the price depends on the size of the opening (single, double or taller), the model and finish, whether you want impact windows or full-view glass, the wind pressure your home requires, and any framing repairs. Every quote includes the door, new tracks and springs, removal of the old door, installation and the permit. Call or WhatsApp a photo of your current door, and we set up a visit to measure and give you a written quote.
Is the permit really included with a new garage door?
Yes. In Miami-Dade and Broward a replacement garage door needs a building permit. The permit is part of your written quote and is permitted through our general contractor partner, so you don't have to deal with the building department yourself.
What is an NOA, and why is it on my quote?
A Notice of Acceptance (NOA) is Miami-Dade County's approval for a specific product, showing it passed the wind tests required in the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone. NOAs expire, so we print the NOA number and expiry date on every quote and you can look it up yourself before you sign.
How does payment work for a new door?
The payment terms are written on your quote: part to order the door and start the permit, and the balance when the job is complete. Quotes are valid for 14 days. We take cash, Zelle, ACH, credit or debit card.
How long does a new garage door installation take in Miami-Dade or Broward?
SolvTek Garage Doors usually completes the installation in one day. The total time depends on the factory's lead time for your door and on the permit turnaround in your city, so we give you the expected timeline with your quote.
Can you install a new opener along with a new garage door?
Yes. Ask us to include a quiet belt-drive opener with battery backup and Wi-Fi in your door quote, and we install both on the same day.
