When does a garage door panel need replacing?
- A section is dented or creased from a car, a ball or flying debris.
- A section is cracked at a hinge or has pulled apart.
- The door rubs or binds at one section when it moves.
- Rust has eaten through the bottom section, which is common where water sits at the floor.
How to get a quote
- Send three photos on WhatsApp or by text: the whole door from outside, a close-up of the damage, and the label on the inside edge of the door.
- We identify the matching section and send you a written quote.
- Once you approve, we order the section. The order time depends on the manufacturer, and we tell you what to expect with the quote.
- The technician removes the damaged section, installs the new one, re-attaches hinges, rollers and any reinforcement, then balances the door and runs the safety test.
Should I replace one panel or the whole garage door?
A single new section is the right call when the door is in good shape and only one section is damaged. Replacing the whole door usually makes more sense when:
- two or more sections are damaged,
- the door is old, discontinued, or the matching color is no longer made,
- the door has no hurricane rating label and you want one for storm season or your wind-mitigation report.

What should I do if a storm dents my garage door panel?
Check the door for bowing and rollers out of the track before using it, and send us photos. Flying debris is a common cause of dents after a storm. On a rated door, we keep the replacement section true to what the manufacturer built, so the door matches its product approval.

How much does it cost to replace one garage door panel?
SolvTek Garage Doors quotes every panel individually, in writing, because the price depends on the door's manufacturer and model, the section's size, style and color, whether it is the bottom section, and what hinges, rollers or reinforcement come with it. We confirm the exact part from your photos and send a written quote before ordering. If two or more sections are damaged, or the door is old, ask us to quote a new wind-rated door too so you can compare.
Why do you need photos to quote a garage door panel?
A replacement section has to match your door's manufacturer, model, size, style and color, or it won't fit the hinges and won't look right. Send a photo of the whole door from outside, a close-up of the damage, and the label on the inside edge of the door (it usually lists the maker and model).
Can every dented panel be replaced?
Not always. Some older or discontinued doors no longer have sections available, and some colors and textures have changed. If we can't get a matching section, we tell you before you pay anything, and a new door may be the better option.
My door is hurricane-rated. Does a new panel affect that?
On a wind-rated door, the rating applies to the door as the manufacturer built and tested it. That is why we only use the manufacturer's matching section, with its reinforcement, and never a section from another brand. If a matching rated section isn't available, we tell you before quoting.
Can I keep using the door with a dented panel?
If the door still opens and closes smoothly, usually yes. If the dent is deep, the section is cracked, or the door rubs or binds in the track, stop using it and send us a photo, because a bent section can push rollers out of the track.
